Day 1

Arrival In Darjeeling (75 kms / 3 hrs)

Your trip to Darjeeling starts from today. Our representative will receive you at the New Jalpaiguri Railway Station/Bagdogra airport. From here, our representative will be assisting further in your journey to Darjeeling also called queen of the hills, which is around 68 km away. Located at an average height of 6700 ft, Darjeeling is a beautiful hill station that is famous for its scenic Himalayan trenches and sprawling tea estates.

Here you also have the luxury of exploring its breathtaking beauty of the surroundings on the UNESCO acclaimed Darjeeling Himalayan Railway, which is famous as the toy train. After an hour and forty minutes, you would be entering the mesmerizing realms of Darjeeling town. Check in at the hotel, and relax for a while. Day 2

Darjeeling Sightseeing

On 2nd day get ready for Darjeeling tour. Start your day fresh with a mountain trip to Tiger Hill. Being the highest point of Darjeeling, Tiger Hill offers some of the best sights of the Himalayas, which are apt to be visited early in the morning. Imagine yourself standing in front of the mighty Kanchenjunga peak, the snow clad peaks of which are turning golden due to the rising sun. This panoramic view is the best introduction of Tiger Hill. In order to catch this breathtaking sight, leave early from your hotel. The magnificent hill is around 11 km from the town of Darjeeling.

As you climb down the hill, you would be embarking on a visit to the incredible Ghoom Monastery and Batasia Loop. One of the oldest Tibetan Buddhist monasteries in Darjeeling, Ghoom Monastery is about 7 Km from the town and is famous for its huge statue of Lord Buddha. Post that, drive back to your hotel for a hearty breakfast. Rest of the day is scheduled for visiting major attractions inside the town which is the highlight of the Darjeeling itinerary.

First on the list would be Himalayan Mountaineering Institute, followed by Lebong race course, Peace Pagoda, Tibetan Refugee Self Help Center, Tensing-Gumbo rock, ropeway and Parmesan Nadia Himalayan Zoological park, which houses the rare Snow leopard and Tibetan wolf. You also would be getting a chance to visit the lush green tea estates, which the town is so proud of. Sip on famous Darjeeling tea and revive your senses. As you would be done with all the sightseeing, head back to the comfort of your hotel for an overnight stay.

SIGHTSEEING : Batasia Loop

The Batasia Loop is a spiral railway created to lower the gradient of ascent of the Darjeeling Himalayan Railway in Darjeeling district of West Bengal, India. At this point, the track spirals around over itself through a tunnel and over a hilltop

SIGHTSEEING : Ghoom Monastery

Ghoom Monastery is one of the oldest Tibetan Buddhist monasteries in Darjeeling. It has Magnificent views of the snow capped peaks including the Kanchenjunga. One of the key attractions inside the monastery is the 15-foot model of the Lord Buddha which is known as The Maitreya Buddha or the Gyalwa Shampa which means the Buddha of the future. There is a large collection of Buddha's manus inside, that includes a 108-volume Kangyur - The Tibetan Buddhist Gospel.

SIGHTSEEING : Himalayan Mountaineering Institute

The Himalayan Mountaineering Institute was established in Darjeeling to encourage mountaineering as an organized sport in India. The first ascent of Mount Everest in 1953 by Tenzing Norgay and Edmund Hillary sparked a keen interest in establishing mountaineering as a well-respected endeavor for people in the region. Tenzing Norgay was the first director of field training for HMI.

SIGHTSEEING : Japanese Temple

There is a wonderful Japanese temple located at a 10 minutes driving distance from the Darjeeling town center. The temple is also known as the Nipponzan Myohoji Buddhist Temple. ... Close to the temple is the Peace Pagoda that showcases four avatars of Lord Buddha.

SIGHTSEEING : Padmaja Naidu Zoological Park

Padmaja Naidu Himalayan Zoological Park is a 67.56-acre zoo in the town of Darjeeling in the Indian state of West Bengal. The zoo was opened in 1958, and an average elevation of 7,000 feet, is the largest high altitude zoo in India

SIGHTSEEING : Tea Garden

Tea planting in the Indian district of Darjeeling began in 1841 by Archibald Campbell, a civil surgeon of the Indian Medical Service. Campbell was transferred as superintendent of Darjeeling in 1839 from Kathmandu, Nepal. In 1841, he brought seeds of the Chinese tea plant (Camellia sinensis) from Kumaun and began to experiment with tea planting in Darjeeling.The British government also established tea nurseries during that period (1847). Commercial development began during the 1850s.In 1856, the Alubari tea garden was opened by the Kurseong and Darjeeling Tea company,followed by others.

SIGHTSEEING : Tenzing Rock

Opposite to this is the Gombu Rock named after Nawang Gombu, nephew of Tenzing who was the first person to climb the Everest twice, once in 1963 and then in 65. He took over as the Director of Field Training at Himalayan Mountaineering Institute after Tenzing retired in 1976.One of a pair of large natural rocks used by people to practice rock-climbing, including beginners.

SIGHTSEEING : Tibetan Refugee Self Help Center

The Tibetan Refugee Self-Help Centre was started on October 2, 1959. Following the dramatic escape of His Holiness the Dalai Lama during that period of mayhem, thousands of our fellow countrymen, leaving hearth and home, fled into neighboring countries so they could live as free human beings. The overwhelming majority of the refugees had brought nothing with them apart from the clothes they wore and what little provisions they could carry with them as they began the long and difficult trek over the Himalayas.

SIGHTSEEING : Tiger Hill

Tiger Hill is the best sunrise view point. It is 11 km from the town of Darjeeling. It has an amazing view of Mount Everest and Mt.Kangchenjunga together from its dedicated observatory and a viewing deck. Day 3

Drive to Gangtok (100 kms / 4 hrs)

On 3rd day, get transferred from Darjeeling to Gangtok. Post breakfast, make a check out from your hotel and head to Gangtok (5,500 ft.), a mystical hill station in the Himalayas of the North-East. Located in the eastern Himalayan range, Gangtok has an amazing blend of nature and religion. Amidst dense forests and Himalayan peaks, lies the quaint hill station of Gangtok, which is dotted with several colorful monasteries.

The drive to Gangtok takes around 2 hrs and 23 mins. Thus, you would be having ample time to relax in your hotel. You can even utilize time to explore the nearby attractions, which are at walking distance. This would be followed by an overnight stay in your hotel in Gangtok.

Day 4

Excursion to Tsomgo Lake & Baba Mandir

Day 4 of our exclusive Darjeeling-Gangtok tour is dedicated to excursions from Gangtok. Under this, you would be heading towards the very popular Tsomgo lake and Baba Mandir. Tsomgo is a glacial lake, which is around 38 km from the town of Gangtok. Scaling the Gangtok-Nathula highway, which goes through rugged mountain terrains and cliffs, you would be reaching the beautiful Sikkimese lake. This will take around an hour.

The lake is famous for its scenic and tranquil beauty which makes it a peaceful outing place. Besides its beauty, Tsomgo lake also holds a sacred status. Right on the banks, lies a temple of Lord Shiva, which adds to the divinity of the region. After spending a wonderful time at the breathtaking Tsomgo lake, you will start your journey to Baba Harbhajan Singh Mandir, which is located nearby. Unlike the other shrines in Sikkim, which are dedicated to some deity or religious concept, Baba Mandir commemorates an army martyr, Major Harbhajan Singh.

The shrine has a lot of significance for the locals as well as the personnels of Indian army posted in the region. Major Harbhajan Singh was an Indian army officer as well as a saint. Army personnels believe that the spirit of him protects them in every situation and owing to this belief, they dedicated a shrine to him. The shrine is nestled at an altitude of around 4000 mtrs, high up in the hills.

Post that, a visit to the Research Institute of Tibetology, Directorate of Handicrafts and Handlooms, Chorten and Orchid sanctuary is scheduled in your Gangtok family tour package. By evening, you will be back in your hotel. Call it a day and spend the night at leisure.

SIGHTSEEING : Baba Mandir

Major "Baba" Harbhajan Singh was an Indian army soldier. He is revered as the "Hero of Nathula" by soldiers of the Indian army, who built a shrine in his honor. He was accorded the status of saint by believers who refer to him as the "Baba" (saintly father).Many who come here leave a bottle of drinking water which they arrange to collect a few days later. It is believed that one can fulfill one's wishes by drinking that water. Although this temple is on a roadside, it is surrounded by mountains from all sides and the views all around is magnificent.

Tsomgo Lake, also known as Tsongmo Lake or Changu Lake, is a glacial lake in the East Sikkim district of the Indian state of Sikkim, some 40 kilometres from the capital Gangtok.

Day 5

Gangtok Local Sightseeing

The Fifth day of the itinerary is for visiting the popular attractions of Gangtok, after morning breakfast Visit to Directorate of Handicrafts & Handloom, Research Institute of Tibetology, Do Drul Chorten (Stupa), Enchey Monastery, White Hall, Flower Show, Ganesh Tok- a temple dedicated to Lord Ganesha, placed on a small hill on the Gangtok-Nathula Road, Hanuman Tok, Tashi View Point, Banjhakri Falls, one of the finest falls close to Gangtok, place amidst a lush green well-maintained Shamanistic- themed park.

One of Sikkim’s most renowned temples, Hanuman Tok is dedicated to Lord Hanuman. The temple complex is well taken care of by the Indian Army. As the temple is placed on high altitudes, the complex offers wonderful opportunities for photography as the views of the peaks are stunning from here.

Probably the biggest stupa of Sikkim, Do Drul Chorten is located on a hill. This sacred spot was built in the year 1945 by Late Truslshi Rimpoche, the head of Nyingma sect of Tibetan Buddhism. The golden-colored dome is the highlight of the structure. You can spot lamas engrossed in their prayers.

Founded in the year 1909, Gonjang  Monastery is one of the Gangtok’s most popular Gompas. Placed on a hill, the monastery offers exciting views of Mt Kanchenjunga. The structure of the monastery is inspired from a Chinese Pagoda and the images of deities adorn the inner walls. Spot the statues of Guru Rinpoche and Lord Buddha, who are worshipped here.

If you are a nature lover, do visit the permanent flower show held at the Flower Exhibition Center, another popular attraction. The floral exhibition site is near Ride Park and White Hall, and is a place where you must not miss clicking photographs. This exhibition area has a green house effect and consists of a vast variety of floral species such as celosia, gerberas, roses, orchids and more.

Post that, you would be visiting the Research Institute of Tibetology, Directorate of Handicrafts and Handlooms, Chorten and Orchid sanctuary. By evening, you will be back in your hotel. Overnight at Hotel 

SIGHTSEEING : Banjhakri Falls

The Ban jhakri falls is a recreation center and tourist attraction about 7 km from Gangtok. The park's statuary and other displays, the Ban Jhakri, or traditional shamanic healer who worships spirits living in caves around the falls. There are paved pathways and footbridge around the park which spreads across some 2-acres of land area with many trees and flowering plants in it. It's a popular picnic spot. There is also a man made lake here with a dragon at the center.It is perfect place for soaking up the nature and having a picnic with your loved ones.

SIGHTSEEING : Cottage Industry And Handicraft Centre

Directorate of Handicrafts & Handlooms is the recent name given to the old Handloom and Handicrafts Centre of Sikkim. Located at a distance of half kilometer from the main market of Gangtok, the centre is also known as the Government Institute of Cottage Industries (GICI).

SIGHTSEEING : Do-drul Chorten Stupa

Dro-dul Chorten is a stupa in Gangtok in the Indian state of Sikkim. The stupa was built by Trulshik Rinpoche, head of the Nyingma order of Tibetan Buddhism in 1945. ... The stupa is surrounded by Chorten Lakahang and Guru Lakhang, where two statues of Guru Rinpoche are present.

SIGHTSEEING : Enchey Monastery

The Enchey Monastery was established in 1909 above Gangtok, the capital city of Sikkim in the Northeastern Indian state. It belongs to the Nyingma order of Vajrayana Buddhism.

Flower Exhibition Center which holds the annual Orchid show. Inside the area is not very large but it has amazing collections of flowers of many different types, If you are a flower lover, then this is the place for you.

SIGHTSEEING : Ganesh Tok

Ganesh Tok is a loved tourist spot in Gangtok and a small temple dedicated to Lord Ganesha. It is situated on top of a hill thereby giving scenic views to the tourists who come here. The Kanchenjunga hill can be seen in its true form of glory from here and is at its best especially in the morning. The viewpoint is situated at a distance of 6500 m offers stunning views of the mountains covered in snow. The temple is however so small that it can only fit one person at a time. The place takes you a step closer to nature with its surreal surroundings and comforting ambience.

SIGHTSEEING : Hanuman Tok

Hanuman Tok, 15 KMs away from Gangtok, is a Hindu temple complex which is located in the upper reaches of Gangtok. The temple is dedicated to Lord Hanuman, and maintained by the Indian army and known for its wonderfully serene ambiance and a viewing area that offers spectacular view of Kanchenjunga range. It is believed by the locals that Lord Hanuman took rest for a moment at this place when he was on his way to Lanka from the Himalayas. He was carrying sanjeevani herb to cure Lakshman. The temple is popularly known as wish fulfilling temple.You can also visit temple of Sirdi Saibaba which is not very far from it.

SIGHTSEEING : Namgyal Institute of Tibetology

Namgyal Institute of Tibetology is a Tibet museum in Gangtok, Sikkim, India. The foundation stone of the institute was laid by the 14th Dalai Lama on 10 February 1957 and it was opened officially by the Prime Minister of India Pandit Jawahar lal Nehru on 1 October 1958.The NIT library holds one of the largest collections of Tibetan works in the world outside Tibet and a museum of Tibetan iconography and religious art. The institute's main building is an imposing monument and a splendid example of Sikkimese architecture.NIT offer plenty of insight and knowledge about Tibetan culture to their visitors and is a must visit place.

  • In case client wishes to prepone /postpone his or her travel dates, we request you to kindly reach us 30 days prior to journey date via e-mail/SMS.

  • The customers can prepone /postpone their tour once without any additional charges (if intimated before 15 days of travel date in written). However postponing & preponing second time will attract additional charges.

  • Also note that few service providers (Hoteliers, Transporter etc.) may apply postpone/prepone charges even after meeting above requirement. In such cases postpone/prepone charges will deducted from the advance amount deposited.

  • In all prepone or postpone scenarios, the services and the costing will be subject to availability of Hotel/Volvo and season/off season time.
